COIMBRA:
Coimbra is steeped in history: was home to Portugal's first university and was also Portugal's capital. Today it is a lively cosmopolitan town mixed with delightful whitewashed and azulejo covered houses piled on top of the hill, full of character and a great place to explore on foot !

CONIMBRIGA Roman Ruins:
Conimbriga is the best preserved Roman ruins in Portugal showing a variety of different ancient housing, baths, shops and many examples of mosaic flooring - you can still see the different colours used. Conimbriga is a fantastic site and not to be missed and only a 40 minute drive from Casa Cleeve so perfect for a morning or day trip.

LUSO & FOREST OF BUCACO:
Just 30 minutes from Casa Cleeve is Luso, a thermal spa town and the Bucaco Forest and palace - just 2 kms apart, so perfect for a full day trip. The vast forest is renowned as a spiritual, peaceful place popular with walkers, and the monastery and palace date back to the Portuguese royal family and the Napoleonic Wars, which swept across the Iberian Peninsular. There is a new luxury spa at Luso, well worth trying !

ANADIA & BAIRRADA WINE:
Anadia is a small town in the heart of the Bairrada wine growing region and also home to the region's wine museum.

CURIA SPA TOWN:
Curia is located in the heart of the Bairrada wine region and is famed for the healing properties of its thermal waters discovered by the Romans. The town's heyday was from the late 19th century through to the 'roaring 20s' and much of the architecture harks back to that time with examples of buildings from La Belle Epoque and Art Nouveau throughout the town. For the energetic there is a Golf Course nearby.

LOUSA - Outdoor Recreation:
Lousa is in the heart of several mountain ranges just 15 minutes from Casa Cleeve. The town is charming, with many old streets, an agricultural museum, and nearby rivers, mountains and woodlands which offer ample opportunities to get into the countryside. In summer months there is a unique fresh water swimming pool in the mountains.

PENACOVA - Watersports:
Penacova is a small hill town situated high above the River Mondego, overlooking lush countryside, with plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation including canoeing and rock climbing and mountain climbing. Easy access to an excellent river beach (praia fluvial).

CANTANHEDE:
Cantanhede is a small town renowned for its sparkling wines.
